Department of Homoeopathic Materia Medica

The Science of Remedies: Mastering Drug Pictures for Individualized Homoeopathic Cure

About the Department

The Department of Homoeopathic Materia Medica is the heart of homoeopathic education at S. M. Deo Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. It equips BHMS students with comprehensive knowledge of homoeopathic remedies, their source, preparation, drug pictures, sphere of action, and clinical applications – enabling accurate similimum selection based on the law of similars.

Spanning all four BHMS years, the subject covers polychrests, rare remedies, nosodes, sarcodes, mother tinctures, and comparative materia medica, with emphasis on understanding remedies through provings, toxicology, and clinical experience.

Teaching integrates lectures, seminars, remedy quizzes, drug picture presentations, and museum visits to build a strong therapeutic foundation for holistic, individualized prescribing.
